The Importance Of Accountability

Being held accountable for your actions is so important when it comes to achieving your goals. When people take responsibility for their actions they make changes that lead them to do things differently, to do new things and/or to stop doing things that held them back.

Accountability means;

obligation or willingness to accept responsibility for one’s actions.

Once we accept that our actions have consequences, then we are empowered to create the results we desire.

Accountability accelerates your performance – By having clear and concise goals it enables you to streamline your approach and accelerate your progress.

Accountability helps you measure your success and progress – You will define what success looks like and set milestones to measure your progress along the way. You can easily track how close you are to reaching your goals.

Accountability keeps you engaged There are things that will come up that will distract you from your goals and take you off course. Even when you’re bored, distracted or tired, knowing that you have to answer for your progress will keep you going to the finish line.

Accountability will keep you responsible When you are working with someone who pushes you to make massive changes in a short amount of time and give a report…you finally realize that you are ultimately responsible for how much progress you make every day. Accounting for your actions weekly will cause you to take a good look at yourself, start eliminating the excuses and start making deliberate actions that bring about your intended success.

Accountability will validate your thoughts and ideas When you have someone to be accountable to you can silence your inner critic and bounce your ideas off someone else who can help you make sound decisions and give you constructive advice. It helps stop the procrastination.

Creating and establishing accountability doesn’t have to be a long drawn out process.

Here’s three simple steps to to ensure accountability.

1. Find a partner to keep you accountable – Tell your partner what you intend to do so you can be accountable. Allow them to ask you about your progress and be careful to give straight forward answers—with no excuses. This partner could be a spouse, a friend, a family member. It may be a coach/trainer.

Within your journey with Active-Rest there will be accountability built in with check in’s and monthly Q&A’s. You can also contact me via the Support page and ask any questions you may have.

Ultimately though you must have accountability for your own actions.

2. Become personally accountable for your success.   Personal responsibility will shift your perspective and empower you to eradicate the excuses that may be holding you up.

3. Get a mentor or a coach. As I mentioned earlier, with a mentor or coach, you will accelerate your success, break through limitations and achieve much more than you ever can on your own. At some point you must consider getting this caliber of assistance to truly blast past the mediocrity and into high-level achievement.

This we will approach through your membership with check in’s, as stated, as well as various other forms of contact and assessment.

accountability is the glue that ties commitment to results.
